The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the best dark horses in recent years. With an impressive and at times unconventional combination of talents, the Hawks have previously proven their potential and found decent success in the playoffs. A great example of this was the 2014-15 season, where the team under the leadership of Mike Budenholzer finished their regular season with 60 wins and advanced to the Eastern Conference finals. With two Conference Semis and Conference Finals appearances since 2010, the team definitely knows a thing or two about making deep postseason runs.
However, their run in the past couple seasons can only be described as underwhelming. The Hawks scratched and clawed to earn their postseason spot only to be eliminated by the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2022 and 2023 playoffs.
This time around, the team management did some retrospect and likewise made adjustments in the hopes of adding some much needed experience and depth to their roster.
