Tim Hardaway Jr. is an American professional basketball player who currently plays as shooting guard and small forward for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. He was born on March 16, 1992, in Alameda, California, making him 31 years old as of January 2024.


Hardaway Jr.’s basketball journey began at Palmetto High School in Miami, Florida, where he averaged 31.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior.


Now in his 11th NBA season, the veteran sharpshooter will be hoping to make a deep playoff run with the Mavs alongside superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Tim Hardaway Jr. played three seasons of college ball at the University of Michigan. Under coach John Beilein, Hardaway Jr. made an immediate impact as a freshman in the 2010/2011 season, starting in all 35 games, averaging 13.9 points per game on 42.0% shooting from the field. In his sophomore season, Hardaway Jr. again started in all 34 games and improved his numbers to 14.6 points per game. He shot 42.8% from the field and 36.7% from the 3-point line, helping Michigan reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.


After his sophomore year, Hardaway declared for the NBA Draft but ultimately withdrew his name to return to Michigan for another season. In his junior season in 2012/2013, Hardaway Jr. elevated his play to help lead Michigan on a deep March Madness run. He averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 37.4% from 3-point range. Hardaway Jr. earned All-Big Ten First Team honors as the Wolverines advanced to the NCAA championship game before losing to Louisville.

In the 2013 NBA Draft, Tim Hardaway Jr. was selected with the 24th overall pick by the New York Knicks. He played for the Knicks for two seasons before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks in 2015. Hardaway Jr. spent three seasons in Atlanta, progressively improving each year and establishing himself as a reliable scoring threat. His best season with the Hawks came in the 2017/2018 season when he averaged 17.5 points per game.


In 2017, Hardaway Jr. signed a four-year $71 million contract with the New York Knicks to return for a second stint with the team. After just over a season in New York, he was traded again, this time to the Dallas Mavericks.


Now in his 11th NBA season at age 31, Hardaway continues to excel as a versatile wing player. As of January 2024, he is averaging 18.4 points in the 2023/24 season.
