10 best NBA players to pick for a dynasty NBA fantasy basketball league

There are so many different options and configurations for an NBA fantasy basketball league. From the scoring system, to the type of draft that will determine who gets which players, there are plenty of things that can be changed to ensure everyone is enjoying.

One of the settings that can be turned on is to make a league a dynasty-type one. This is a type of league that allows teams to keep certain players so that they can carry them over to the succeeding seasons.

If you are playing in a league that has the dynasty setting turned on, here are 10 players (in no particular order) that you should try to acquire.

#1, Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is only 24 years old and is entering his sixth NBA season. He is still very young and there is still a lot of room for him to grow. He is already putting up an impressive 27.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.

Acquiring the superstar from Slovenia to your team in your NBA fantasy basketball league will give you a great contributor this season but will also give you an extremely reliable player for many seasons to come.

#2, Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum already shows that he has a refined offensive game. Last season, he put up 30.1 ppg along with 8.8 rpg. This season, ESPN has projected that he will score 32.0 ppg.

Aside from that, ESPN also predicts that his assists to rise from 4.6 to 5.0. At only 25 years old, Tatum will continue to become one of the league's most dominant scorers for years to come. As such, he is a great addition to any fantasy league roster.

#3, Devin Booker

It might be hard to believe that Devin Booker is only 26. He will be turning a year older on Oct. 30, but it feels like he's been in the league for so long it is hard to believe that he isn't 30 yet.

Booker has continued to refine his game, becoming a reliable facilitator to make him an even deadlier offensive threat. NBA fantasy basketball players who take the Phoenix Suns star can expect him to provide consistent scoring and a healthy number of assists for several seasons.

#4, Ja Morant

Ja Morant has a very controversial start to his career. He has already been involved in several issues which has led to him being given a 25-game suspension at the start of this season.

Outside of those issues, the Memphis Grizzlies guard has had an impressive start to his career. He was the Rookie of the Year in 2020, won Most Improved Player in 2022 and is already a two-time All-Star. If he is able to focus on basketball, he has the potential to become one of the league's best point guards.

#5, Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama has yet to play in a single NBA game, yet, he is already one of the most hyped players but for good reason. The No. 1 pick in the most recent draft is a freak of nature. He is 7-foot-4 but can move like a much smaller guy.

While there are some concerns about his durability, he is still worth drafting. He was impressive in the San Antonio Spurs' preseason games, and if he stays healthy, will be a bonafide superstar. His potential alone makes him worth picking in an NBA fantasy basketball league.

#6, Paolo Banchero

Some of the best players to take in a dynasty-type NBA fantasy basketball league are young guys with plenty of upside. Paolo Banchero has tons of potential, but he has already proven that he is superstar material.

He put up 20.0 ppg and grabbed 6.9 rpg while also adding 3.7 apg in 72 games. which led to him winning the Rookie of the Year award last season. His game will continue to grow, and his production will increase. As such, he is one of the best players to draft for any NBA fantasy basketball player.

#7, LaMelo Ball

The Charlotte Hornets point guard spent most of the 2022-23 season sidelined due to injuries. He only played 36 games but he was a stat-sheet stuffer in the games that he appeared in.

LaMelo Ball is only 22 years old, but he has already shown that he can score, dish the rock and crash the boards. He has also been reliable at forcing turnovers which makes him a fantastic contributor in four categories. Ball is a young asset who will help any NBA fantasy basketball team become a contender for several seasons.

#8, Josh Giddey

Josh Giddey does not yet fit the description of an NBA superstar. However, he is already one of the players who can do it all for a team. Since being drafted in 2021, he has already put up eight career triple-doubles (four in each of his first two seasons).

He is certainly not the main guy on his team as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (who is also definitely worth drafting) deserves that honor. However, Giddey might fly under most people's radars which makes him a great sleeper pick in any NBA fantasy basketball league.

#9, Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards is the future of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Last season, he received his first-ever All-Star nod, an honor that he certainly deserved. In his third season in the NBA, he scored 24.6 ppg (45.9% shooting, 36.9% from downtown), put up 4.4 apg and grabbed 5.8 rpg. He also continued to play great defense, stealing the ball 1.6 times.

Edwards is already a great player to have on any NBA fantasy basketball team. He also looks like the kind of player that fantasy league players can build around for the future.

#10, Nikola Jokic

The Serbian superstar is already 28 years old, making him the oldest player on this list. He has come a long way since being drafted in the second round in 2015, establishing himself as one of the league's few true superstars.

NBA fantasy basketball players who end up with the first pick in their drafts would be mistaken to not draft Nikola Jokic. He is a triple-double machine who shoots efficiently. While he isn't a great interior defender, he makes up for it by stealing the ball a good amount (1.3 spg last season, 1.2 throughout his career).

These are the 10 players who are certainly worth picking and building around in a dynasty-type NBA fantasy league.
