Kevin Durant is the most coveted free agent this season. Even with the Golden State Warriors winning back to back titles and Durant winning back to back NBA Finals MVP, joining some elite company, he still might not want to re-sign with them. As weird as it sounds, he might just finally want that maximum deal that he so deserves.

Any team that he will end up joining will become an instant contender. He will probably stay a top 5 player and in the MVP contention for the next 4-5 years.

The Warriors organisation is confident of keeping him with the team, figuring out a wage structure seems to be the biggest issue. Among the teams in contention for his signature, Golden State can offer him his biggest deal, a five-year, $221.3 million contract, which should get him thinking to stay.
But would he really want to stay? As long as Steph Curry is at the Warriors, he will remain the essence of this team, no matter how many MVPs Durant manages to win. He might just be a secondary note in a dynasty created and started by Stephen Curry, not Durant.
On the other hand, the fight with Draymond Green, although now in the rearview mirror, is still something that could be bothering him. He might be able to create his own legacy at a different franchise and take them to the top, as the face of that franchise with another star.
He is the top prize this offseason and maybe his decision will not be an easy one this time around.
Teams to watch out for: Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers
