#5 Dwight Howard drops 26 and 17 on the Spurs: 2013/04/14
Going up against the San Antonio Spurs, led by their core of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli, Dwight Howard had his work cut out for him. Tim Duncan's length and defensive IQ presented a difficult matchup for Howard.
Howard had been the focus of the offense due to Kobe's injury. With the game running through him, he muscled his way to the rim and established his will to score, getting 26 points for the game. But Duncan, being the face of fundamental basketball, fought Howard to a standstill, getting 23 points of his own.
Howard had 17 rebounds for the game while shooting 60% from the field. He also put the clamps on the defensive end, getting three blocks and two steals for the game. The Lakers walked away with a 91-86 win over the Spurs.
Honourable Mention:
During his first campaign with the LA Lakers, Howard was a superstar in the NBA. In his second stint, he came to the Lakers as a role player off the bench. Bringing energy and hustle, one of Howard's most memorable performances of the 2019-2020 season was against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Howard scored 21 points and grabbed 15 boards while shooting 81.8% from the field and putting up another 100% game from beyond the arc. The performance was reminiscent of the Dwight Howard of old. It showed the Laker fans that even at this stage in his career, he could still be an asset to the team.
