The 2024 Paris Olympics feature some of the best basketball players in the world including LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and many others. Team USA has the most talented roster in the competition. Because of their usual depth, no American has led the quadrennial games in scoring.

Patty Mills led Australia to the bronze medal in Japan three years ago and won the scoring title. He is back and might have a shot at leading the tournament in scoring for the third time in his career.

A handful will have a chance to have personal glory in two weeks of basketball. One will be crowned the scoring champ in 2024 Olympics basketball.

2024 Paris Olympics basketball likely scoring title contenders

#5 Bogdan Bogdanovic, Serbia

There are nights in Serbian basketball where Bogdan Bogdanovic seems unstoppable. Bogdanovic is a role player in the NBA but often performs like a superstar on the international stage. He has a shot at leading the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball in scoring.

The Atlanta Hawks guard averaged 19.1 points on 52.6% shooting, including 42.3% from behind the arc in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. He put up those numbers without Nikola Jokic occupying opponents’ attention on defense. With “The Joker” around, Bogdanovic might have an explosive campaign in Paris.

#4 Victor Wembanyama

One of the biggest sports stars in the Paris Olympics will be another contender for the scoring belt. Victor Wembanyama is making his debut in the quadrennial games but he will be France’s top option on offense. “Wemby,” playing with an entire nation supporting him, may top the category when the dust settles.

The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft averaged 21.4 PPG in his Rookie of the Year campaign with the San Antonio Spurs. He already looks a better version in pre-Olympic exhibition games than the one that captivated basketball fans.

The 2024 Paris Olympics basketball scoring crown could end up in his collection.

#3 LeBron James, USA

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer has to be in the mix for the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball scoring title. In Team USA’s close wins against South Sudan and Germany, Steve Kerr went almost exclusively to James. The four-time NBA MVP has remained almost impossible to guard when asked to step up.

Only the Americans’ ridiculously stacked roster and James’ pass-first mentality could stop him from topping this category.

#2 Steph Curry, USA

Steve Kerr has made LeBron James Team USA’s point guard to allow Steph Curry the freedom to roam and do damage with his shooting. Oddsmakers have the Golden State Warriors as the favorite to lead the Americans in scoring. He might just do it while topping the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball in points per game.

Kerr knows extremely well what helps Curry get going. Basketball fans saw what he did against Serbia in the pre-Olympic game in Abu Dhabi. If he can have nights like those, he could rule the field in Paris.

#1 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Canada

Only Luka Doncic was better than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in scoring in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Olympics “SGA” might be even better than the one that competed last summer in the Philippines. Some thought the OKC Thunder guard should have won the NBA MVP award over Nikola Jokic last season.

Unlike the Americans who are stacked with scoring machines, Gilgeous-Alexander is Canada’s most potent offensive weapon. He was the biggest reason the Canadians won the bronze in the FIBA World Cup.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has an excellent chance to win the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball scoring title.
