Toronto Raptors came into the league in 1995, representing Canada in the NBA and playing in the East conference and Atlantic division. Raptors play their home matches in the Scotiabank Arena.

Raptors GM is Masai Ujiri and he is credited with most of the success Raptors has had. He traded away DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green which divided the fans.

Raptors were struggling in their early seasons as a normal expansion team would do until they acquired Vince Carter on draft day trade in 1998. It led the team to their first ever playoff win. Selecting Chris Bosh as the 4th overall pick in 2003 was also an instrumental decision.

In 2018, Ujiri decided to rebuild the Raptors with Kawhi trade during the off-season. It led them to their first title in 2019.

The Raptors faced Orlando Magic in the 1st round who they defeated in five games with Kwahi scoring 27.8 points per game.

The Raptors then faced Philadelphia 76ers in the conference semifinals with Embiid and Butler on court. The series was decided on a game 7 buzzer beater by Kwahi Leonard. The Raptors moved to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they came back from an 0-2 deficit against the Milwaukee Bucks to win the next four games to seal the series.

The Raptors went on to beat the defending champions Golden State Warriors in six games in the finals.

Toronto Raptors have a 59-66 record in the NBA playoffs. The Raptors had made seven consecutive playoff appearances from 2014-20. The Raptors made their first playoff appearance in 2000 and their last playoff appearance came in 2020.

The Raptors, during their seven-consecutive playoff runs, were led by the duo of Demar Derozan and Kyle Lowry. They met a similar foe in the LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, 2017, 2018. It ended in LeBron destroying Raptors’ hopes every single time which famously earned him the nickname “LeBronto”.

The Raptors have won the Eastern conference division once, which was in 2019. They went on to win the NBA Title that season. Toronto Raptors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in six games in the conference championship clash after going down 0-2.

Number of NBA championships won by Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors won their maiden NBA title in 2019. The Raptors faced the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals. Injuries to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson during the series weakened the Warriors.

Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam with Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka proved too much for the Warriors to handle, defeating them in six games and Kawhi Leonard winning his second Finals MVP. Kawhi dominated the finals with 28.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists with two steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He had the highest point scored, ranked first in rebounds, second in assists, first in steals and second in blocks for the Toronto Raptors.

Toronto Raptors Last Playoff Appearance

Toronto Raptors last appearance in the playoffs came in 2022 where they lost in the first-round to Philadelphia 76ers led by Joel Embiid in 6 games.

The Raptors lost game 3 in OT, going on to win the next two games but then eventually losing the game 6 and crashing out of the 2022 playoffs. Joel Embiid recorded 26.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per match and anchored the 76ers to victory.
