Queen attended the College of Marin in Marin County, California, to begin his collegiate basketball career. In the 2016-17 season, where he averaged a team-high 21.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game over 14 games. For the 2017-18 season, Queen joined the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) in Roswell, New Mexico; during his sophomore season, he was selected to the All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference team and was ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association. In 2018, he transferred to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and played for the New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team. According to his college profile, he averaged 13.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 27.5 minutes per game, becoming one of the best players of the Aggies. Queen was named the WAC tournament MVP in 2019.
Queen remained undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft and signed with the Houston Rockets on November 12, 2020. However, he was waived by the Rockets in the next month. He joined the Rockets' NBA G League affiliate, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, on February 10, 2021. He and his team, the Valley Vipers, won the NBA G League Championship in 2022, and Queen was named the Finals MVP and also the NBA G League Most Valuable Player of that championship.
