Trinity, Saipal lift BernHardt inter-college basketball tournament in Nepal

The winners: Trinity (Boys) and Saipal (Girls) of the BernHardt Inter-College Basketball Tournament

Trinity International College and Saipal Aacademy lifted the boys and girls title respectively of the 4th BernHardt Cup inter-college basketball tournament here at Kathmandu, Nepal.

In the boys’ final, Trinity International College edged past CCRC College 59 – 51 to lift the title. Trinity took the first quarter 17 – 10 while CCRC took the second and third quarter 17 – 13 and 17 – 15 respectively.

But Trinity came out strong in the last quarter and took the deciding quarter 14-7 to win the final to lift the boys’ title of the BernHardt Cup Inter-College Basketball Tournament. Sandesh Tamang of Trinity International College was the highest scorer of the final with 20 p0ints.

In the girls’ final, Saipal Academy outclassed GoldenGate College 43-22 to lift the title. Saipal were too strong for GoldenGate as they took all the quarters 14-2, 7-5, 9-4 and 13-11 respectively to win the girls’ title. Shanti Shrestha of Saipal Academy was the highest scorer with 17 points in the final.

Upama Pokharel of Saipal Academy, and Sandesh Tamang of Trinity International College were declared Most valuable Player of Girls and Boys category respectively. Bhupesh Chatttkuli, Founder Director of Bernhardt College gave away prizes to the winners.

One of the most prestigious college level basketball tournaments in Nepal, the fourth edition of the BernHardt Cup Inter College Basketball Tournament was held from 27 August to 5 September 2013 at Kathmandu, Nepal. Total of 26 boys’ teams and nine girls’ teams are participated in the tournament.
