The 6-foot-5 point guard, Tyrese Haliburton was drafted as the 12th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. After playing for more than a season in Sacramento where he finished top-3 in the Rookie of the Year race, Haliburton was part of a blockbuster trade which landed him in Indiana with the Pacers.

Haliburton soon became the franchise player of the Pacers and averaged 17.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.6 assists and 1.8 steals in his first full season (2021-22). He took another leap in the next two seasons and made two consecutive All-Star games and an All-NBA third team. He averaged 20.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists (league leader) per game in the 2023-24 NBA season. In the 2024-25 season, Haliburton hit a clutch three-pointer against the Philadelphia 76ers to take the game to overtime but missed both the throws in OT to tie the game as the Pacers lost 114-118.

Haliburton has stated his reasons for wearing number #0 and said it is partly due to a former Indiana Pacer. According to Haliburton, Indiana was his team for a few years when playing NBA2K, and he "used to kill" with C.J. Miles, the last Pacer prior to him to don the number, as per IndyStar

Haliburton added more to this and said that he wears the number 0 as a reminder to himself to always stay humble and hungry. In an interview with the NBA, he explained, "I always want to start back at zero, like I haven't done anything yet. So, that's kind of why I picked that number."
