Starting point guard of the Philadelphia 76ers, Tyrese Maxey is known for his speed and scoring points by attacking the rim in transition. Maxey was drafted by the 76ers with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, and since then he continued to show promise as a franchise point guard but he truly broke out as an All-Star in the 2023-24 season. Maxey went from averaging 20.3 points and 3.5 assists in the 2022-23 season to 25.9 points and 6.2 assists in the 2023-24 NBA season. Maxey was born on November 4, 2000, in Dallas, Texas and he burst onto the local basketball scene while playing at South Garland High School where he led them to a historic title victory in the Texas State High School basketball tournament. As a five-star recruit, Maxey eventually joined the famed University of Kentucky and set a school points record on debut freshmen with 26 points. Now with the 76ers, Maxey is seen as their franchise star, as the 76ers signed Maxey to a five year, $203.85 million contract in the 2024 off-season. As of November 3, 2024, Maxey is averaging a league-high 42 minutes and 27.8 field goals per game.
