The Chennai Slam defeated the Pune Peshwas 81-49 in the final of the UBA Championship to become the 2015 champions of the league at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The Slam played a near-flawless game from the opening quarter and maintained a considerable lead over their opponents right until the end.
The opening half finished with the Slam taking a 14-point lead at 39-25, but the other side of the half expectedly saw the Peshwas try and forge a comeback. Despite Pune’s best attempts, however, the Slam proved to be too good for their opponents, scoring 23 points to the Peshwas’ 9 in the third quarter.
The men from Chennai closed down the match in the final quarter by scoring 19 points to be crowned the champions of the 8-team league.
