Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Jazz was founded in 1974 and have since established themselves as a prominent team in the NBA. The team plays its home games at Vivint Arena which was formerly named EnergySolutions Arena.

Both finals were played against the Chicago Bulls, The Jazz, led by John Stockton and Karl Malone took both serieses to 6 games but lost the finals 4-2 in each year.

They finished both regular seasons at the top of the Western Conference standings and dominated the playoffs against contending teams. Karl Malone was also adjudged the MVP of the 1996-97 NBA season. However, the Bulls’ star power and Michael Jordan’s competitiveness proved to be too much for the Jazz.
