Warriors Lose Sloppy Contest Against Mavericks

The Warriors played a very ugly and sloppy basketball game yesterday against the Dallas Mavericks. They found themselves down 17 in the second and fourth quarter before making a late run and falling short 103-99. The Warriors could not overcome their 18 turnovers and the 30 points the Mavs scored off of them.

Steph Curry found his range shooting 6-10 from three and finishing with a game high of 29 points. He also added 8 assists, but turned the ball over 6 times. Steph has been turnover prone so far this season, and it was evident again against the Mavs.

Six Mavericks finished in double figures highlighted by Dirk Nowitzki 22 points. DeJaun Blair was truly the MVP of the game tonight pulling down seven offensive rebounds, which helped fuel the Mavs runs that put them up late.

Klay Thompson and Monta Ellis both struggled tonight as they played very good defense against each other. Klay looked a little off the entire night missing a few wide open three pointers.

All in all, I don’t have much to say about this game.

The Warriors were just very sloppy with the basketball. They once again struggled to close out quarters letting the Mavs finish with runs at the end of the second and third quarters.

Good teams in the NBA close out quarters, which either get them back in the game or put teams away. The Warriors turnovers and inability to secure the rebound prevent them from closing out quarters. The team has now fallen to 9-7 as they head to OKC tomorrow.

Without Andre Iguodala this Warriors team is going to be serious underdogs. It is going to take quite a performance from Steph, Klay and Barnes if they want to pull this game out. Hopefully, the Warriors will shock some people and win their second game against the Thunder this season. I will have my fingers crossed.
