The Dallas Mavericks host the Washington Wizards on Monday, marking their second and final matchup this season. The banged-up Mavericks will attempt to sweep the lowly Wizards 2-0 in their season series.
Dallas (24-22) is reeling amid a plethora of injuries, most notably to superstar guard Luka Doncic (calf) and center Dereck Lively II (ankle). It has lost six of its last eight contests, dropping to ninth in the jam-packed Western Conference standings. That includes Saturday's 122-107 home loss to the Boston Celtics.

Conversely, Washington (6-38) has occupied the bottom of the NBA standings for most of the season. It has lost a league-worst 13 consecutive games, most recently falling 119-109 during Saturday's road clash against the Phoenix Suns. The Wizards will look to avoid going winless on their six-game West Coast road trip and earn their first victory since Jan. 1.
In Dallas and Washington's previous matchup on Dec. 5, the Mavericks secured a 137-101 blowout road win, led by star guard Kyrie Irving's game-high 25 points.

Washington Wizards vs Dallas Mavericks preview
As injuries continue piling up for Dallas, Irving has shouldered a heavier offensive burden, scoring 22-plus points in five straight outings.
Meanwhile, forward P.J. Washington and center Daniel Gafford have stepped up on both ends, with Gafford double-doubling in three of his last four appearances. The sixth-year center projects to be of heightened importance moving forward, serving as the Mavericks' lone proven big man available.
Despite its recent woes, Dallas ranks eighth in offensive rating (114.7) and 11th in defensive rating (111.9). However, it will likely need others to come through offensively in Doncic's prolonged absence to stay afloat in the deep West. Veterans Klay Thompson and Spencer Dinwiddie, and fourth-year wing Quentin Grimes, have all been streaky options.
As for Washington, it has predominantly been the Jordan Poole show, with the sixth-year guard regularly delivering inefficient, high-volume shooting performances. Poole has shot below 40.0% in six of his last eight contests amid his squad's losing skid.
Meanwhile, the Wizards continue to develop prospects Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Carlton Carrington, who have all struggled with inconsistency lately.
Despite his shaky shooting splits (39.8/31.0/64.4), Sarr is ranked No. 1 on NBA.com's Kia Rookie Ladder. That is primarily due to his rebounding (6.8 rebounds per game) and rim protection (1.6 blocks per game).
Notably, veteran forward Kyle Kuzma is coming off a season-best 30-point performance on Saturday. However, the 2020 NBA champion has been largely underwhelming, averaging 14.6 points per game on 42.3% shooting across 27 appearances.
Overall, Washington has had few bright spots, ranking dead last in offensive rating (104.7) and defensive rating (118.3).

Washington Wizards vs Dallas Mavericks betting tips
Poole's points prop is 22.5. Despite averaging a career-high 21.4 ppg through 37 outings, he has scored below 20 points in three of his last four contests. Thus, it makes sense to take the under.
Meanwhile, Irving's points prop is 26.5. The eight-time All-Star has scored 33-plus points in two of his last four games, so he should hit the over against the Wizards' paltry defense.
Washington Wizards vs Dallas Mavericks prediction
Washington has been uncompetitive lately, losing four straight games by double-digit points. So, despite being shorthanded, Dallas should be in store for a relatively easy home victory, with a strong chance to cover the spread (-12.0)
However, the squads may not surpass their over/under point total (231.5). The Wizards and their opponents have finished below that mark in their last four outings.
