Two of the best storylines in March Madness have been the runs of Kansas State and Florida Atlantic University. Both teams became fan favorites due to their feel-good storylines and underdog nature.
Unfortunately, one of their runs was destined to end as the two squared off in an Elite Eight matchup. It was Florida Atlantic who came out in the top 79-76 in the hard-fought matchup.
The Owls were not shy about letting their opponents know following the victory. The team turned on "Low Down" by Lil Baby in the locker room and danced in a similar way to what Kansas State has done throughout the tournament.
Florida Atlantic steals Kansas State's thunder?
Clips of Kansas State dancing in the same way have circulated around social media throughout the tournament. Coach Jerome Tang led the charge in these moves, which endeared fans to the team.
Some may be critical of Florida Atlantic as it is not the most respectful move following the win. While underdogs are typically the teams that the national public gets behind, FAU has picked up quite a few enemies due to its theatrics.
The Owls were booed off the court following their second-round victory over Fairleigh Dickinson as they attempted a dunk-contest-like dunk attempt rather than just dribbling the clock out. The game was already in hand, with Florida Atlantic holding an eight-point lead, so a classier move would have been to just allow the clock to expire.
However, others have pointed out that if you want to prevent these types of actions from occurring, you simply should not lose. FAU has the right to act and celebrate however it wants if the results are there and this has been the case throughout the tournament.
It may be lonely at the top for the Owls from the way they burn bridges, but the success that they are having cannot be denied. This is just the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance in history and it had not won a game before this season. Making it to the Final Four is quite an accomplishment and the team will set its sights on cutting down the nets next weekend.
One can only imagine what type of celebration will occur if this does become a reality.
