Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s relationship has been a subject of interest for over a decade. An article by Lauren Ellman of InStyle detailed the origin of their love story.

The article talked about how the couple met in 2007 at a Super Bowl party, but Union was reportedly initially hesitant to date Wade due to their nine-year age gap and his ongoing divorce. However, they eventually started dating and made their relationship public in 2010.

“We like to party, and he doesn't drink at all. He was on the other side of the room holding Bible study,” Gabrielle Union told Essence.

The relationship wasn’t without its challenges, including a brief breakup in 2013 during which Wade fathered a child with another woman. The couple reunited, got engaged in December 2013, and then tied the knot in August 2014.

Throughout their relationship, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been open about their struggles, including the actress’ infertility issues. After years of trying to conceive, they welcomed their daughter Kaavia James via surrogate in November 2018. Wade also has two sons and a daughter from his previous marriage.

Wade and Union have also been vocal about supporting each other, including Wade's daughter Zaya's transition. The Miami Heat legend was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in August 2023 with Union by his side to celebrate.
