Carter Jr.’s interest in basketball developed at a young age and to further hone his skills, he joined the Pace Academy for high school in his hometown Atlanta, Georgia. With the right physical attributes, he quickly developed, making him one of the fastest-rising players in his academy.
Averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and three blocks per game in his junior and senior seasons, Carter led Pace Academy to win back-to-back state championships in 2016 (Georgia AA) and 2017(Georgia 3A), earning him multiple honors and accolades including Georgia Player of the Year, Gatorade Georgia player of the Year, HS All-America team honors, and more.
