Wendell Horace Moore Jr., a basketball shooting guard for the Detroit Pistons, was born on September 18, 2001. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks as the 26th pick in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft. However, he was then traded to the Houston Rockets, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves, all before making his NBA debut. In his two seasons with the Timberwolves, he played in 54 games, starting two, averaging 1.1 points, 0.4 assists and 0.6 rebounds. In July 2024, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons.

The Charlotte, North Carolina native, Moore went to Cox Mill High School in Concord. In his final year, he was named for the Nike Hoop Summit and McDonald's All-American. He also won the 2019 Jordan Brand Classic and North Carolina Mr. Basketball. Following this, he joined Duke University and in his three seasons there, he played in 88 games, starting 68, averaging 10.7 points, 3.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds. In his senior year, he won the 2022 Julius Erving Award and was named for the ACC All-Defensive Team and the second-team All-ACC. After which, he declared for the 2022 NBA Draft.

He led his team to a 29-3 record and a second consecutive 3A state championship with an average of 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.3 steals. He declared in October 2018 that he would play for Duke University in the 2019-20 season. He chose the Blue Devils over Wake Forest, North Carolina, South Carolina, and NC State.
