Dennis Rodman had a highly successful 14-year NBA career and is generally regarded as one of the best rebounders and defenders of all time. Rodman played for five different teams, including the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks.
Throughout his career, he made two All-Star teams, won two Defensive Player of the Year awards and won five NBA championships. He was later inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, in addition to being selected in the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
Despite all of his success, Rodman currently only has a net worth of around $500,000 in 2022.
Throughout his NBA career, Dennis Rodman earned a total of around $27 million which is now around $43 million adjusted for inflation. He has also made additional money from acting, writing, and even wrestling.

Rodman has signed endorsement deals with the company PotCoin. He has also invested in a vodka firm, Bad Ass Premium Vodka, which is owned and marketed by Rodman and AB Partners LLC.
Unfortunately, Rodman's lavish lifestyle, erratic personality and poor financial decision-making have caused him to lose most of his earnings so far.
Reasons for Dennis Rodman’s low net worth
Dennis Rodman's personal expenses that have contributed to his loss in net worth include expenses related to his well-documented alcohol and drug addictions. He has also paid child support debts from multiple divorces, including in 2012 when he was ordered to pay Spokane County $51,000 in back child support.
The majority of his money, however, went to cars, clothes, and other luxury items. Fines and penalties from his 14-year NBA career also added up. This includes in 1997 when Rodman was fined $200,000 and later suspended 11 games for kicking a referee in the groin.
However, considering Dennis Rodman’s rough upbringing, he has done quite well for himself.
Rodman had an extremely unstable childhood. His father, Philander Rodman, abandoned his family and moved to the Philippines when Rodman was young. His mother, Shirley Rodman, then had to work multiple jobs to provide for Rodman and his siblings.
Rodman also said in a recent interview that his family sold cocaine. However, the Chicago Bulls legend was able to avoid getting into dealing drugs as he focused on basketball.
“Every day when I see my family selling cocaine, you’re studying drugs every day but for some reason, I kept going straight. I never made that right, trying to go and sell drugs,” Rodman said.
“Every day, I jumped the fence every day, went to the rec park, and played basketball every day so basically I got founded at a rec center.”
So all things considered, Dennis Rodman is still an incredible success story as he has overcome a ton of adversity to be successful. He may not have the generational wealth that many retired athletes have, but his legacy will certainly live on for generations to come.
