He was nominated to take part in the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic in 2022.
After finishing high school Wallace committed to play basketball at the University of Kentucky where in his freshman year in 2022/23, He started 32 games for the Kentucky Wildcats and averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while playing 32.2 minutes per contest, second-most on the team. Subsequent to that He let go of his remaining college eligibility and declared for the 2023 NBA Draft where he was selected as 10th overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wallace made his NBA debut against the Chicago Bulls and went perfect 5-of-5 from the field, including 3-of-3 from the three-point range, as he scored 13 points on his NBA debut. In the 2023/24 NBA season Wallace played all 82 regular season games and averaged 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds per game.
