Jaylin at East Catholic High School
Jaylin Hunter attended East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut. He helped lead his teams to state championships in his junior and senior seasons. He was named the Connecticut Player of the Year in 2019.
He was also a two-time All-State Academic Team honoree and earned a spot on the All-Conference Academic Team. Hunter averaged 23 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for East Catholic.
Jaylin at Old Dominion University
Jaylin Hunter pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management at Old Dominion University. The Sport Management program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions within the sports industry.
Students acquire the knowledge and skills needed for careers with professional sports teams and leagues, intercollegiate athletics, sports facility and event management companies, sport marketing agencies, and other sports-related businesses.
Talking about his basketball performance, he played in and started all 32 games averaging 34.5 minutes per game in the 2021-22 season. He scored 9.7 points to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He had double figures in scoring 16 times topped by 20 points at North Texas and Western Kentucky.
He topped the team in free throw percentage (.843) which was the seventh-best single-season mark in school history. He dished out six or more assists eight times topped by nine in a home win over Marshall. He shared the team lead in 3-pointers made (41) and had the best 3-point percentage (.339).
He hit a career-high four 3-pointers against Western Kentucky and UTSA. He was an Honorable Mention All-Tournament Team at Myrtle Beach Invitational. He ranked in the top 10 in C-USA in assists (7th), steals (10th), assist-to-turnover ratio (4th), and minutes played (7th). He was also a Team Captain.
Jaylin at Ohio University
Jaylin continued to pursue Sports management post his transfer from Old Dominion. As a freshman during the 2022-2023 NCAA basketball season for the Bobcats, Hunter played in all 33 games for the Bobcats. He averaged 13.2 points per game and shot nearly 40% from three-point range.
Hunter’s performance on the court was notable not only for his scoring ability but also for his defensive prowess. He averaged nearly two steals per game and consistently disrupted opposing offenses with his quick hands and tenacious defense.
Despite being just a freshman, Hunter showed tremendous composure and maturity playing with a new team and people. He navigated the challenges presented by competing in Division I college basketball.
