Born on November 5, 2003, Julian Phillips is an American basketball player. He started basketball at Blythewood High School in Blythewood, South Carolina. Julian plays college-level basketball for the Tennessee Volunteers of the Southeastern Conference.
Julian grew up in Killeen, Texas, United States. His parents served in the U.S. Army and moved to Columbia, South Carolina when Julian was in third grade due to their posting at Fort Jackson.
High School Career
Julian initially enrolled at Blythewood High School in Blythewood, South Carolina. After spending a junior season at Blythewood, he transferred to Link Prep Academy in Branson, Missouri.
During his senior year at Branson, Julian participated in the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. He was one of the 20 players in the 2022 class. At the beginning of his senior year, Julian decided to play college-level basketball for the LSU Tigers men’s basketball team. A few days later, he changed his plan of joining LSU because the head coach of the team, Will Wade, was suspended from the team.
College Career
Julian Phillips ultimately began his college career after committing to play college basketball at Tennessee. Along with college, he played in the NBA G League and gained professional interest. During his college career, he was named to the 2022 Battle 4 Atlantis All-Tournament team. Julian averaged 8.3 points and 4.7 rebounds over 32 games. After the season, Julian made his entry to the 2023 NBA draft while continuing his college.
