Adeel Alam, known by his in-ring name Mustafa Ali is a Professional Wrestler currently signed to WWE. His present free agent status in WWE could make him appear on both the Raw and SmackDown brands. Alam served as a police officer in a Chicago suburb and subsequently wrestled for a few independent circuits initially before joining WWE.

He made his pro-wrestling debut in 2003 and worked with multiple wrestling promotions until 2016. Some of the promotions in which Ali worked includes Dreamwave Wrestling, All American Wrestling (AAW), Freelance Wrestling, GALLI Lucha Libre, IWA Mid-South, Jersey ALL Pro Wrestling (JAPW), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Proving Ground Pro and Wrestling Circus.

Mustafa Ali made his WWE debut on June 25, 2016 as a replacement wrestler to the Brazilian Wrestler Zumbi in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. But got eliminated in the first round of the tournament by Lince Dorado. Ali made a constant appearance on multiple brands within WWE including NXT, 205, and Raw. Ali then got a chance to debut in 205 Live, which is an exclusive division of WWE for Cruiserweight. He also appeared on the main roster simultaneously. He had multiple pursuits to capture the Cruiserweight but all his efforts ended in vain.

Mustafa Ali’s efforts gained the attention of Vince McMahon and made him a part of the SmackDown brand. WWE gave him a big push very soon after his main roster debut to confront the WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. He even pinned The WWE CHampion and pulled out one of the greatest upsets. Ali then participated in the Royal Rumble Match and lasted for almost 30 minutes. He was scheduled for the Elimination Chamber match but was ruled out due to legit injury, where Kofi replaced him. Ali was then added to the Money in the Bank match and came short from grabbing the briefcase, as Brock Lesnar made a surprise entry and stole the spotlight.

During the COVID phase, Ali turned heel and headed a stable named Retribution. He had multiple feuds against The Hurt Business and The New Day. Ali dropped the stable and love-hate relationship with Mansoor. He was away from WWE for a while and requested a release, as Vince regretted he made a compromise and made his return. He is now the No.1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship to face Gunther at the Night of Champions at Saudi Arabia.
