Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry’s career-high in points came on Jan. 3, 2021, against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors won the game 137-122 with Curry dropping 62 points to set the record for most points scored at the Chase Center. Here are all the details of Curry’s career-high night.
Steph Curry got off to a hot start in the game, finishing with 21 points on 7-for-11 (63.6%) shooting in the first quarter. Curry followed that up with 10 points in the second, 14 points in the third, and 17 points in the fourth quarter.
With 31 total points in each half, Curry also made history. He became the first player since Kobe Bryant on Dec. 20, 2005, to score at least 30 points in each half of a single game.
In total, Curry finished shooting 18-for-31 (58.1%) and 8-for-16 (50.0%) from three. However, most notably, Curry shot 18-for-19 (94.7%) at the free-throw line. That marked Steph Curry’s career-high for both free throws made (18) and attempted (19) in a single game.

However, the one missed free throw also ended Steph Curry’s career-high streak of 80 consecutive made free throws. That number marked the fifth-longest streak in NBA history. The all-time record is 97 consecutive made free throws by Micheal Williams in 1993.
Steph Curry’s career-high of 62 points also marked the first game of 60-or-more points by a Warriors player in over four years. The last to score 60-or-more was Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson, who scored exactly 60 points on Dec. 5, 2016, versus Indiana. Meanwhile, Curry’s previous career-high was 54 points scored on Feb. 27, 2013, against New York.
However, Curry later topped that mark again with 57 points scored on Feb. 6, 2021, against Dallas.

More on Steph Curry’s career-high night
Despite scoring a career-high of 62 points, Steph Curry chose to remain humble after the game. He shifted the focus toward the Warriors' team rather than himself.
“Every game we’re going to get better,” Curry said. “And more so just seeing the pictures of how opposing teams want to defend us and me individually."
The Warriors' win over Portland came after they had just lost to the Blazers 123-98 two nights earlier. Golden State improved to 3-3 after the win. They went on to finish the 2020-2021 NBA season 39-33 but just missed out on the playoffs. It may have been a disappointing season for the Warriors, but Steph Curry’s career-high night will never be forgotten.
