WNBA player Brittney Griner once spoke about a “nude photoshoot” that she did for an ESPN Body Issue.

Griner is considered to be one of the greatest WNBA players of all time and was highly regarded right from the start of her career. Because of the celebrity that comes with being a professional basketball player, she has been photographed numerous times throughout her career. However, a photo shoot that took place in 2015 was probably her most interesting to date. The player was part of a nude photoshoot organized by ESPN’s 2015 Body Issue. When asked whether she was uncomfortable, Griner had the following to say:

“I was like, let's do it. I was so comfortable like just walking around naked. It was the best thing ever. Like in between the shoot, they were like bringing my little robe to like put on in between. I was like, Nah, I don't need it, just sat down in the chair butt naked. I'm good. I don't need that. It came out really beautiful.”

A six-time All-Star and a two-time Olympic gold medalist, Brittney Griner was in the news recently after being detained by Russian authorities on February 17. The Phoenix Mercury player spent a number of months in a detention facility and was recently released after being made a part of a prisoner exchange that also involved a Russian arms dealer.

Brittney Griner wants to return to the WNBA

Brittney Griner was placed under investigation for alleged involvement in large-scale drug shipping. Griner's agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas, previously released a statement saying that they were in close contact with Griner and her legal representation, and that Griner's mental and physical health were their primary concern. The union of WNBA Players also released a statement expressing concern for Griner's safety and well-being. Griner played in Russia during the WNBA off-season with UMMC Ekaterinburg.

Upon her return, Griner claimed that she had every plan to return to the WNBA and wanted to continue playing for Phoenix Mercury:

“I also want to make one thing very clear: I intend to play basketball for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury this season, and in doing so, I look forward to being able to say ‘thank you’ to those of you who advocated, wrote, and posted for me in person soon.”

Brittney Griner is obviously delighted to be back home and seems to be making plans to return to the WNBA soon.
