Skip Bayless fired shots at D'Angelo Russell, revisiting the infamous incident of the player recording former teammate Nick Young's admission of cheating on then-fiancee Iggy Azalea. Here's what Bayless wrote on Twitter as Russell's trade to the Lakers got reported:

"Obviously the Lakers are trusting D'Angelo Russell has learned from the 2017 incident with Nick Young that got DRuss shipped out of LA by Magic Johnson after he was the second overall pick in 2015."

When did D'Angelo Russell record Nick Young's admission of cheating on then-fiancee Iggy Azalea?

Russell and Young were teammates on the LA Lakers during the 2015-16 NBA season. The former was in his rookie year when he secretly videotaped Young admitting that he was cheating on his then-fiancee, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. Azalea and Young broke up after the video got leaked.

Russell was isolated by his teammates and was eventually traded by the Lakers in 2017 to the Brooklyn Nets due to the incident. Bayless tried to stir up the controversial situation as the player's reunion with the Purple and Gold was reported on Wednesday.

D'Angelo Russell and LA Lakers can put those differences aside

The LA Lakers don't have any players that were teammates with D'Angelo Russell during the player's first stint. Magic Johnson was the GM at the time, so the front office also underwent a shakeup. Rob Pelinka now leads the charge on that end.

Russell now has veteran superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis as his teammates. The former Brooklyn Nets guard's focus has been on the court more than anything else since his trade in 2017. He became an All-Star after that and is one of the top point guards in the league.

The situation with Nick Young shouldn't be much of a concern for the team now. They are pursuing a championship, and Russell will be integral in their hopes of achieving their goal.

D'Angelo Russell seems like an excellent fit alongside LeBron and AD on paper. His ability to make plays, shoot at a high clip and score at will make him the ideal starting point guard for LA with LeBron and AD on the roster.

Russell and other additions, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt, are expected to play in the Lakers' road game against the Warriors on Saturday (Feb 11th). LA is 13th in the Western Conference, with a 25-30 record. They are 4.5 games behind the sixth spot and two games behind the 10th spot.
