Back in 2015, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, met multiple past and present NBA stars in London. This included Hall of Fame big man Dikembe Mutombo as well as then-NBA star forward Carmelo Anthony.
Prince Harry met with the NBA stars as part of the Coach Core graduation ceremony at St. James's Palace. Naturally, many outlets in the UK have reported on the news. However, it was immediately clear that one major outlet didn’t exactly know who the NBA players were that Prince Harry met with.
This came as The Sun confused Dikembe Mutombo and Carmelo Anthony on Twitter. The British newspaper tweeted a picture of Prince Harry next to Mutombo with the caption “Harry comes up short next to basketball star Carmelo Anthony.”

Considering that Mutombo was 48 at the time while Anthony was 30, this was a pretty embarrassing mistake for The Sun. However, basketball is not nearly as popular in the UK as it is in the US, so the confusion was somewhat understandable.
Boston Celtics are not interested in the royal family
Many people in the UK may be more interested in the affairs of the royal family than the NBA. However, in the US, it appears many NBA fans and players couldn't care less about the royals.
Prince William and Princess Kate of Wales recently attended a Boston Celtics versus Miami Heat game on Nov. 30. During the game, the royal couple received a mixture of cheers and boos from fans when shown on the jumbotron. They also reportedly received some "USA" chants.
However, it was the indifference of the Celtics’ coaches and players towards the Royals after the game that really spoke volumes.
When asked about Prince William and Princess Kate attending the game, Celtics All-Star wing Jaylen Brown didn’t seem very interested.
“It was just a regular game for me," Brown said.
Meanwhile, Celtics interim coach Joe Mazzulla refused to even recognize the royal family as true royals due to his Christian religious beliefs. When asked if he had met the royal family, Mazzulla said the following:
"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph?” Mazzulla asked.
The reporter then clarified her question to which Mazzulla doubled down on his answer.
"Oh no, I did not. I'm only familiar with one royal family. I don't know too much about that one," Mazzulla said.
