James highlighted the importance and benefit of carrying over the progress made in practice to the preseason, as per Associated Press' Greg Beacham.

"I think we want to carry over with what we did today at practice," James said. "I think we were very intent on what we want to accomplish going forward. I think [Friday] was one of those first games. It's been a while since a lot of guys have played in a game setting, and it looked that way."

The two all-star forwards sat out the preseason matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves as they watched Bronny James get his first playing minutes. Bronny finished the game with two points and three blocks.

Last season, James averaged 25.7 points (54.0% shooting, including 41.0% from 3-point range), 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game.
