Team USA begin their 2024 Paris Olympics campaign against Nikola Jokic and Serbia on Sunday. The teams clashed during the Showcase game in Abu Dabhi, with the Americans winning by a handsome 105-79 margin. Steph Curry dropped 24 points on 8-of-13 shots, while Anthony Edwards and Bam Adebayo had 16 and 17 points, respectively.
The Serbians, meanwhile, couldn't do much about the USA's dominant group, especially with Nikola Jokic having an off night. The three-time MVP had 16 points and 11 rebounds but on 6-of-19 shooting. The USA are favorites to win again, but the story could be different if Jokic is at his best.

Team USA vs. Serbia key matchup in focus
Team USA has enforced its team with players that could help them match up against any team in the Paris Olympics. Serbia, in particular, is an opponent they may have had in mind when choosing their roster. That's because they have Nikola Jokic.
Nevertheless, the USA recruited Joel Embiid last summer to join them for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Sunday's game will prove why they need the 2023 MVP on their roster despite having the likes of Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo.
Embiid and Jokic's matchup would be the key showdown, as the past two NBA MVP candidates have given each other plenty of headaches in their head-to-head showdowns. Davis and Adebayo haven't been as effective despite being renowned for their defensive potential.
Embiid, on the other hand, gives the USA the size and strength at the five to hold Jokic down. The Sixers star took a while to adjust around the star-studded lineup he's playing with, but he showed improvement over the past two warm-up games.
If Joel Embiid can continue delivering the goods on both ends at that rate, the Americans may not face as much issue dealing with Nikola Jokic in Sunday's game or potentially in the knockouts.
