Previewing the Team USA vs Serbia semifinal matchup

There have already been two USA vs Serbia matchups over the last couple of weeks.

The USA easily handled Serbia in both encounters, first winning an exhibition game in Abu Dhabi and then dominating them again in group play.

In the exhibition match, Jokic’s 16 points were not enough to surpass Team USA. Steph Curry scored 24, Bam Adebayo added 17 and Anthony Edwards contributed 16, leading USA to a commanding 105-79 victory.

During the group stage, Team USA secured a 110-84 win as Kevin Durant exploded for 23 points off the bench. LeBron James added 21 points, Jrue Holiday 15, Devin Booker 12 and both Steph Curry and Anthony Edwards contributed 11 each.

Jokic had an impressive 20-point, eight-assist, five-rebound, four-steal performance, and four of his teammates scored in double digits, but Team USA was too formidable.

Team USA has all the tools to contain Jokic. They have Embiid as a starter and defensive aces backing him up in Davis and Adebayo.

However, USA coach Steve Kerr said his team should not be complacent.

“We can’t get lulled to sleep because we beat them twice,” Kerr said (per NBA.com). “Does Jokic play 40 minutes? What else do they have up their sleeve? We have to be prepared for anything.”

Serbia is shooting 32.4% from deep this Olympics, while the US is shooting a whopping 44%.

Both teams are two wins away from Olympic gold, and fans can expect an exciting matchup featuring some of the world's best hoopers.
