Whitehead was regarded as a consensus five-star recruit for the Devils and named the National Player of the Year for the 2022 class.

He is well-known for his fast jump shot from any area inside the arc and has a very quick first step. Moreover, he is a high-IQ basketball player who has an excellent understanding of the court and thus distributes the ball very well among his teammates.
