Kris Murray is an American college basketball player. He was born on 19th August 2000. Kris was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and started playing basketball during his junior year at high school. Kris Murray is the twin brother of Keegan Murray, who is also an emerging basketball player. Both brothers joined Prairie High School and played for the school team. Kris was named first-team All-Metro and second-team All-State. At high school, the Murray brothers were trained by coach Jeremy Rickertson.


Later after graduating from Prairie High School in 2019, Kris Murray joined DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. With the team at the academy, Kris competed in the national tournament. In the tournament, Kris averaged 19.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.5 blocks.

While playing, Kris Murray secures a Division I scholarship at the University of Iowa. During the time of his enrolment at the University of Iowa, Kris played in his first career Big Ten game at Maryland, scoring 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 block in a six-minute of gameplay against N.C.


In 2021, Kris improved his average of scoring points. Kris played 35 games and posted single-season bests in every statistical category. Iowa’s forward Kris was a leading scorer with 9.7 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game, which were fourth and third overall.


The height of 6 feet 8 inches helps Kris to switch his position to defense too, as in 2021, Kris made 31 blocks which ties with Gen Worley's (2002) highest blocks per game playing with Hawkeye Sophomore. In the same year, Kris was awarded as Co-winner of the team’s Most Improved Player.
