Rayan Rupert is an international prospect who is being eyed by NBA teams that require good defensive pieces. Rayan is tall, has a long reach, and is a tough player to pass by and go down the lane for a layup. However, fans have not heard much of Rayan and there is nothing to be surprised about. The 6 foot 7 shooting guard has been a professional Basketball player for the past three years and stayed away from the limelight of American College Basketball

In such a short career, he has played three seasons in the French NM1 league which is a third-tier division of French club basketball and went to Australia last year to play in Australia’s premier Basketball League; the NBL.

Rayan Rupert’s time at NM1

Rayan played three seasons at the NM1 tier, representing the Pôle France team. He played approximately 12 minutes per game and averaged nearly three points, 1.3 rebounds, one assist, and 0.5 steals per game.

Entering his second season, he showed promise in his abilities at practice sessions and continued with the same energy. He averaged 8 points, 3.4 rebounds, nearly 2 assists, and a decent 1.3 steals per game on 38% shooting.

The third season began and Rayan was on a roll, this time averaging 13.9 points and 2 steals per game on an excellent 40% shooting with 29 minutes of average playtime.

During his time with the French NM1, Rayan Rupert displayed excellent scoring abilities and proved himself as one of the most dynamic players in the league. His quickness and agility allowed him to drive past defenders effortlessly while also being able to shoot from beyond the arc with pinpoint accuracy.

Despite facing stiff competition from other talented players in the league, Rayan maintained a high level of play consistency throughout his stint with NM1. He became one of their standout performers and helped the team secure crucial wins against some tough opponents.

Playing in the National Basketball League

After impressing at the NM1 level for three seasons, Rayan took his skills to the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League (Australia). Rayan's move brought a new addition to the Breakers' roster.

The 2022-23 season was okay for Rayan as he managed to average 6.6 points, one assist, and 0.8 steals per game with 36% shooting from inside the arc.

In an interview after joining the NBL, Rayan expressed that playing for the first time outside of Europe felt different which explains why his game seemed slow and a bit rusty at times.

Overall, it's clear that Rayan Rupert possesses tremendous potential, determination, and talent to play in the NBA. Whether playing at the domestic or international level; he has displayed great skills combined with impressive athleticism which makes him stand out amongst others on any court. With more experience under his belt coupled together enhanced training regimes, there are certainly many great things expected from this young guard in future!
