Brandin Podziemski is currently one of the best players in his draft class and most of his success and his drive can be attributed to his passion for the game of basketball which he developed at a very young age. Podziemski credits his parents for shaping his mind in the right way towards basketball which has given him the right discipline and work ethic to become one of the top players in the country.

High school career

Brandin Podziemski was born in Muskego, Wisconsin and did most of his schooling there. He attended St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy where Podziemski didn’t make the cut for high school Varsity team in his freshman year. This motivated Podziemski to work harder than he had ever done before and in sophomore year, Brandin took his school’s basketball team by storm.

He averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as a sophomore, clearly cementing him as the best player in his school.Podziemski also made the first team All-State in his sophomore season. Podziemski didn’t stop as he only continued to get better through his junior year where he averaged 27.6 points and 9.2 rebounds and also repeated his first team All-State selection.

By this point, Podziemski had developed into a player with a good shooting form and an ability to take players off the dribble with his quickness. He was also an elite rebounder as indicated by his gaudy rebounding numbers and shot a stellar 45% from 3 making 92 of his 205 attempts.

It was in final year however that Podziemski took his game to another level. He averaged 35.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4 steals a game while being named Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, an incredible achievement for the young man. Podziemski was rated a four-star recruit and received offers from multiple universities such as Kentucky, Miami (Fla.), Vanderbilt and Wake Forest before committing to Illinois.
