High School Career
Colby Jones joined at Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Alabama. He had a great interest in sports, especially basketball, since childhood. Colby started playing basketball during his early years at school. Later he went on to play state championships in college. Colby averaged 23.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore. After spending two years at Pinson Valley High School, Colby was transferred to Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
After joining Mountain Brook High School, Colby played under the coach, Bucky McMillan. Colby played alongside his teammate Trendon Watford in a state championship. Both players led their school basketball team to win the Class 7A state title. As a freshman, Colby averaged 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists per game. Colby Jones recorded an average of 25.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game as a senior for the Xavier Musketeers.
College Career
After completing high school, Colby got offers from different colleges, including Auburn, Alabama, UAB and Georgia. In 2020, he committed to play for Xavier Musketeers over offers from other agencies. Colby skipped the first five games of the regular season due to COVID-19 contact tracing.
Colby made his college debut on January 10, 2021, in a match against the Providence Friars men’s basketball team. In a 93-84 loss to St. John’s, he recorded a season-high 20 points and six rebounds. Colby averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his first year at Xavier.
