Getting a triple-double in the NBA is no easy feat to accomplish on a nightly basis. Players who typically finish a game with these figures are an indication of an individual's efforts in playing an all-around game. With that said, only a select few players have ever put up a triple-double on more than a hundred occasions. These people are considered special because of the amount of focus they have to put in.
Let's take a look at the five players with the most triple-doubles in NBA history.

Russell Westbrook is currently the all-time leader in most triple-doubles in NBA history. As of the time of this writing, he currently has 194 triple-doubles. Considering that he's still an active player, his figures will surely rise in the coming games.
Westbrook is without a doubt a player who is still capable of consistently putting up triple-doubles.
#2. Oscar Robertson
Before Russell Westbrook became the all-time leader in triple-doubles back in May 2021, it was Oscar Robertson who held the record with a total of 181. Back in Robertson's playing days, getting a triple-double was easy. "Big O" played in the NBA from 1960-1974, an era where it was easy for players like Wilt Chamberlain to pad stats on a nightly basis.
Oscar Robertson was also the first player to average a triple-double back in the 1961-62 season. Robertson averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists. The next player to ever do it was Russell Westbrook in 2017. Oscar and Russ are the only two players to ever average a triple-double in league history.
#3. Magic Johnson
Magic Johnson was a 6-foot-9 guard who was known for his mind-blowing passes. Despite being a pass-first player, Johnson also had the ability to score and grab rebounds. Being one of the tallest guards in NBA history, Magic could easily fight for a rebound inside the paint thanks to his height. As for scoring, all he needed to do was score a little over 10 points to become eligible for a triple-double.
The LA Lakers legend has 138 total triple-doubles.
#4. Jason Kidd
Similar to Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd is one of the best passers in league history. He may have never averaged at least 20 points in a season, however, just having 10 points is enough to be considered for having double figures.
Kidd was never a scorer and mainly focused on setting up his teammates. If Dennis Rodman did purely defense, Jason Kidd purely facilitated the ball. He has 107 triple-doubles.
#5. LeBron James
At this point, what NBA record isn't LeBron James chasing? LBJ is basically one of the all-time leaders in almost every stat line. As of the time of this writing, James is a little over 700 points away from beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record. Now he's also only two triple-doubles away from topping Jason Kidd's record. "King" James has a total of 105 triple-doubles and counting.
