Born in Luanda, Angola, Bruno Afonso David Fernandes, also known as Bruno Fernando, is an Angolan professional basketball player. As of February 2025, he plays center for Real Madrid Baloncesto, a Spanish professional basketball club, in the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. Fernando lastly played for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA until he was waived on January 7, 2025. As of February 2025, before joining the Raptors in the NBA, he played for the Atlanta Hawks, the Boston Celtics, and the Houston Rockets in the NBA. Fernando was selected as the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, but later he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
In 2015, Fernanda moved to the USA, where he initially joined the Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, and later, he joined IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Fernando enrolled at the University of Maryland and joined the Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team. He played two seasons for the Maryland Terrapins, where he finished the sophomore season with 22 double-doubles. Fernando was named the First-team All-Big Ten in 2019, the Big Ten All-Defensive team in 2019, and the Big Ten All-Freshman team in 2018. Internationally, he represented the Angolan national team in the 2014 FIBA U-17 World Championship.
