NBA 2k25 is coming in the first week of September. Tapping on its cult following throughout the years, the game excites fans with an updated roster, graphics, and new features. Beyond the up-to-date integrations, fans will be treated to an updated player ranking, which reflects player performances from the previous season.
This year’s highest-rated player is the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP who has won the award in three of the last four seasons. At a 97 overall rating, Jokic lords over the player ratings list. However, this year’s Jokic rating is worse than last year, decreasing by one point.

Jokic averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game last season to pick up another MVP following an NBA championship in 2023.

He is also joined by Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Giannis Antetoukounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks as the top players in the game, also boasting a 97 rating.
The three are then followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid with 96 overall ratings. LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Jayson Tatum trail them with 95, while Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis round out the top 10 players with 94 overall ratings.

While revealing all the top-rated players in NBA 2k25, Jaren Jackson Jr. reacted to Nikola Jokic’s rating, questioning why the three-time NBA MVP and one-time champion was rated that way.
“No 98s? Can we get to that? You just gotta be hooping to get to that. Joker had to have been 98. Joker got three MVPs and he’s a 97? I wish you gave me three MVPs and they gave me a 97, I would low-key be mad,” he said.
Jackson knows too well how good Jokic has been in the past three years, having played against him multiple times in a year as they both play in the same conference.
After hearing Jackson’s opinion about Jokic’s rating, Trey Murphy quipped about what could be the Serbian big man’s reaction to his overall rating.
“I don’t think he cares at all,” Murphy said.
Jokic led the Nuggets to their best single season ever as a franchise with 57 wins, which was tied for the best record in the Western Conference.
NBA 2k25 will be released on September 6, 2024, about one month before the NBA regular season starts. Fans who pre-ordered can start playing on September 4.
