The Dallas Mavericks signed Jamarion Sharp to a one-year, $1.1 million Exhibit 10 contract in early August, per Spotrac. Sharp’s deal is non-guaranteed, giving the Mavericks the option to waive him to avoid a cap hit.

Dallas could also turn his contract into a two-way deal, allowing him to develop with the Texas Legends, the team’s G League affiliate.

After two years with Western Kentucky, where he averaged 7.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game, Sharp went to Ole Miss.

He played 31 games for the Rebels under coach Chris Beard and put up 3.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 2.4 PPG. The 7-foot-5 center, however, went undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft.

The Dallas Mavericks took a chance on him and promptly tested him in the NBA 2K25 Summer League. Jamarion Sharp averaged 2.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.6 BPG in five games, four as a starter.

Unsurprisingly, the lanky center shone as an interior defensive presence, totaling 13 blocks, the second in the tournament behind Portland lottery pick Donovan Clingan’s 17.

Jamarion Sharp underwhelmed in his NBA debut for the Dallas Mavericks

Jamarion Sharp debuted in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 7. Sharp came off the bench to play 13 minutes and finished with two rebounds, one steal and one block.

Mavs fans were treated to an interesting showdown between Sharp and the Grizzlies’ 7-foot-4 rookie Zach Edey. The Grizzlies’ two-time NCAA College Player of the Year scored a hook shot over Sharp’s outstretched hand in the third quarter.

Sharp improved in his second NBA game

After his debut, Sharp saw action again on Thursday against the Utah Jazz. The center had a much better performance in his second game.

The Hopkinsville, Kentucky, native finished the game with six points, five rebounds, four blocks and one steal. Sharp was a thorn in Utah’s size on the defensive end.

Dallas’ next preseason game will be on Monday against the LA Clippers. Jamarion Sharp could see action against the Clippers’ bruising center, Ivica Zubac.
