Zion Williamson won’t be in action when the New Orleans Pelicans travel to face the OKC Thunder in a crucial Western Conference matchup on Wednesday night. Williamson is expected to sit out an extended period with a left hamstring strain.
The already injury-laden Pelicans announced on Saturday that the two-time All-Star was dealing with a hamstring issue that would sideline him indefinitely. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday that Williamson is expected to be out for four to six weeks.
Zion Williamson has played six games this season, averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. He's shooting a career-low 45.2% from the floor, including 33.3% from beyond the arc.
The former No. 1 draft pick missed the season opener with an undisclosed illness and three more games through the start of the campaign because of recurring hamstring issues. Injuries have been a major concern for Williamson, and it continues to be so this season as well.
