Will Hardy became the Utah Jazz's ninth head coach in June 2022. Born on January 21, 1988, Hardy was raised in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from St. Christopher's High School, he played for Williams College. In order to attend Williams College, a Division III school that is much more renowned for its academics than its basketball, he declined lower-level Division I offers after high school.

Hardy began his career with the San Antonio Spurs as a basketball operations intern in 2010 and was promoted to assistant video coordinator in 2011. He received a promotion to assistant coach for the 2016–2017 season under Gregg Popovich as per NBCA's official website. In his 11 seasons (2010–2021) with the Spurs, he won an NBA Championship (2014), made two trips to the NBA Finals (2013 & 2014), and made nine playoff appearances (2010–2019). In 2021–22, he joined the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach, working under head coach Ime Udoka. In a single season, he helped the Celtics to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2010.

Who are Will Hardy’s parents?

Will Hardy’s parents are William Sr. and Melinda Hardy. However, no further personal or professional information about them is available.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Hardy called his mother, Melinda, as soon as he was hired by the Utah Jazz. Despite his own choice, Melinda demands that people call him "William" instead of "Will." Following the death of his father, William Sr., from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease, in 2015 at the age of 57, he has allowed Chris Brown and Mike Maker to assume the roles of father figures for him.

Brown was St. Christopher School's basketball coach for three years before taking over as head coach before Hardy's senior year. He initially got to know Hardy when he stood out as an eighth grader at a hoops camp among older guys. Maker, who had been Dana Altman's assistant at Creighton, was hired as Williams College's head coach before Hardy's junior year when Dave Paulsen left for Bucknell.
