Women's Basketball: India vs Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) Gallery/Recap

Indian women, ranked 41 were bested by Taiwan/Chinese Taipei ranked 22. The game started off evenly, but from the second quarter Taiwan began to break away with the lead. Their stifling defense made it hard for us to get the ball down low to Geethu Anna Jose and the rest of the team weren't able to keep up with their hot shooting. Their players were noticeably bulkier than our team, and the pressure created many turnovers from us. The team played their heart out, but the other team was too strong. There were flashes of greatness and constant hustle from our team, Prashanti Singh ripping away a rebound from a huge Taiwanese player, Geethu Anna Jose getting And 1s, Anitha Pauldurai driving in with abandon, and one telling sequence in which I couldn't identify the player as the pixels were vague and my connection is bit shoddy: The player brought the ball upcourt, faked one way at halfcourt and using the hesitation dribble lost her defender. Then she drove right into the heart of the defense, faked a pass and rolled in a layup. That sequence had me pumping my fists. This was a tough game for us. I had a tough time too, squinting to observe the pixels and filling in the blanks of the live stream lags. Then I had to explain away this pop-up moment: [caption id="attachment_49305" align="aligncenter" width="593" caption="I'm looking at the girls. No, not the girl on the left. I don't know her. No, we aren't chatting. Believe me, I'm working. Really."][/caption] Here's the schedule for the coming matches (all times are 2 1/2 hrs ahead of our time): Aug. 2 19:00 Korea(rank 9)-India Aug. 4 17:00 India-Japan(rank 15) 21:00 Closing ceremony
