The ban on BGMI in 2022 was shocking news for the game's community. Since then, they have been eagerly hoping that the battle royale title would somehow make a return. Fortunately, they will not have to wait much longer. Krafton has officially announced that the game is all set for a comeback in India while complying with all applicable laws and maintaining data protection.
After the news, BGMI's servers were additionally taken down. However, they will return soon with a tonne of fresh content. Fans can now patiently wait as their beloved battle royale title continues its operations. The following section lists five things that players should know about BGMI's unban.
Servers, data security, and other things to know about BGMI's unban
5) Servers and data security
Per the BGMI’s Privacy Policy about international data transfer, the player’s personal information will only be stored and processed on Krafton’s secure servers in India and Singapore. Additionally, it adds that in case of data transfer to another country, the company will ensure that the information receives the same level of protection.
Moreover, the tweet by the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology also revealed that the game was only approved as it complied with all the issues about server location, data security, and more.
4) Provisional unban for three months
After Krafton announced BGMI’s return to the Indian market, players were delighted and have been looking forward to diving in yet again. However, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology, tweeted that this was only a three-month trial approval of the game.
The government will be having a close look at it, with context to issues of user harm, addiction, and more, before the final decision gets implemented. This might dampen the mood of some players.
3) Rules for players under the age of 18
With the release of BGMI in 2021, Krafton implemented specific policies for underage players, and the same set of restrictions is expected to be applied even now. The Privacy Policy on the game’s website clearly states that services are not intended for underage users, and players under 18 should not use the game unless parental consent is provided.
Furthermore, they will be required to provide the phone number of the parent or guardian to confirm their eligibility to play the game.
Moreover, the Terms of Services also lays down certain restrictions for players under 18. These include a maximum game time of three hours, alongside the maximum daily amount of using paid services capped at INR 7000.
2) New content
Recently, an image of a conversation with the BGMI’s support surfaced online. It highlighted that plenty of new updates would be ushered in. Players will have a lot on their plates to enjoy on the battleground. Moreover, after the comeback, individuals must re-authenticate their social media accounts and re-calibrate the settings.
As a result, once the game is available for download, users can expect to be greeted with a flood of fresh content, likely with the 2.6 version.
1) The game will be released in May
Krafton pulled the curtains on the BGMI’s return earlier this week. However, the game’s servers have not been accessible for the past few days, depriving the individuals of the battle royale experience.
Additionally, the official post by Krafton India on Linkedin revealed that the game is unavailable to play and servers have been shut down.
Nonetheless, a separate blog post on Krafton’s official website highlights that the game's service will be resumed this month, i.e., May. Thus, it would likely be a few days before players can start gunning for their chicken dinners.
