Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) was suspended on July 28, 2022, by the MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), after which the title was delisted from the digital storefronts of Apple and Google. However, much to the excitement of mobile gamers across the country, it was re-instated on the Google Play Store earlier this morning, creating a huge deal of buzz in the gaming community.
The relisting process was quick, considering that Krafton had only announced the title's unban in the Indian gaming market through a couple of Instagram posts (on the game's official handle) on May 19, 2023.
BGMI can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store
Today morning, many fans who visited the website of Battlegrounds Mobile India in search of any update/announcement from Krafton regarding the game's unban stumbled on a link that helped them download the title from the Google Play Store.
Those who are installing the title fresh will see a download size of 736 MB. This size is similar to the previous updates that appeared in the game. However, users must remember that the game is getting downloaded on the previous 2.1 variant.
The download procedure consists of a few simple steps. Here's a look at the steps that BGMI players can follow to install the game on their Android devices.
Step 1: You can use the download link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pubg.imobile&pli=1) available on the official website of the game. This link will redirect you to the Google Play Store on your device.
Step 2: Click on the Install button available on the application page.
Step 3: Review and provide the required app permissions that will help initiate the download process. The entire download progress will be shown on the application’s Play Store page.
Step 4: Following a successful download, you will need to click on the Open icon to launch the Battlegrounds Mobile India application.
However, much to the disappointment of those who have tried downloading the title, BGMI cannot currently be accessed. This is due to the in-game servers remaining offline.
BGMI is only getting unbanned for a limited trial period of three months
Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally making a comeback after a long hiatus. The Play Store download process is just the initial phase following the game getting unbanned in the country. However, the return of the BGMI is temporary as the MeitY will be inspecting it closely for three months.
The news about the government monitoring the game was clearly announced through a tweet made by the GOI's Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on May 19.
Gamers must be aware that the title is set to undergo several changes, including a reduction in blood and gore. On the brighter side, however, Battlegrounds Mobile India's unban will also result in the introduction of many new features that will improve the gaming experience for millions of users.
