Krafton recently confirmed that BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) is getting unblocked in India after almost nine-and-a-half months. However, the servers were taken offline before the South Korean game company broke the good news to the fans, and they are still not working as of 21 May 2023. The developer has disabled the auto-login for the time being, as the game is showing the following message upon launch:
"Hello BGMI Fan! BGMI servers will be unavailable for a while to come up with a better and bigger experience. While we are working to give you a seamless experience, your account will be safe, and your progress till now will be retained. We will keep you informed of further developments and the release date through our social media platforms."
Even if players try to sign into the game manually, they will encounter another pop-up message about servers being offline. Here's what it reads:
"Server is not online yet. Please check the official news for information regarding availability. Thank you for your understanding."
Therefore, servers are still offline as of this writing, and players might have to wait a little for Battlegrounds Mobile India to return on Google Play and Apple App Store.
Krafton confirmed the return but is yet to announce BGMI's re-release date
As mentioned, Krafton notified the fans of BGMI's return with the first social media post about the game since July 2022. However, the South Korean developer/publisher has maintained secrecy about the title's re-release date on the virtual application stores.
As of this writing, there haven't been any confirmations or announcements from Krafton's side, and there are no reports or rumors around the game's official return either. You can follow its social media handles to get updates about Battlegrounds Mobile India's unban date.
BGMI is finally coming back, but with a set of conditions
Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally coming back, which might happen any day now. However, the initial return will be temporary, with the Government of India's MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) keeping an eye on the game for three months.
After being touted as a "three-month trial approval," the upcoming phase will decide whether the game will return permanently, as stated by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, GOI's Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology.
The upcoming three-month unban will bring new content to the game, including features from the global variant, PUBG Mobile. At the same time, Battlegrounds Mobile India will reportedly witness censorship to curb issues like "user harm and addiction."
Some reports have also hinted at the reduction of gore and blood in the title after its unban.
