On May 19, 2023, prominent BGMI superstar Tanmay "Scout" Singh was livestreaming Valorant and GTA V roleplay on his popular YouTube channel. During the broadcast Scout answered a viewer who asked him why Battlegrounds Mobile India's return was getting delayed despite Krafton receiving the necessary permits from the Indian government.

Scout feels that the new 2.6 update's incorporation in the game is likely the reason behind the launch getting delayed.

"What I personally feel is that the major updates in PUBG Mobile... I played PUBG Mobile recently using a VPN. It has insane smoothness... new guns are there... changes in maps... a lot of major changes are there in PUBG Mobile. All these changes will also come in BGMI because when the game will launch, it will launch with the latest updates. I feel them adding so many changes is taking time."

Scout also stated that Krafton is taking precautionary measures for the game to not get banned again. In this context, he said (translated from Hindi):

"Moreover, another reason for delay is that they (Krafton) are taking precautions that this time around there are no such mistakes against which the government will take steps... Like, there should be no more problems for the upcoming three months."
