On May 22, there was plenty of confusion among BGMI players as news started spreading about the game being available for download. The fans had been waiting for several months to hear this news, especially after Krafton stated that the popular battle royale would return to play stores. However, the link to download the game that was doing rounds isn't what it should be.
Several posts on social media hinted at a possible opportunity for the game being available for download on the Google Play Store. Naturally, players didn't waste a moment downloading the game but met with server issues. Krafton has clarified the issue via a LinkedIn post, where the developers have shed light on what happened.
BGMI is yet to go live officially after Krafton's earlier announcements
Many BGMI players thought the game's servers were live once again and finally available on the Play Store. This seemed even more realistic as the link doing rounds on social media allowed them to download a legitimate client. However, the ensuing server error hinted that Krafton India is yet to go live with the new version.
In the LinkedIn post, Krafton stated that the false download availability had been caused due to an update in the test track.
"Several users have been reaching out asking if they can download BGMI since they can see the "download now" option on the website. Please note, the game is not available to play as the servers have been shut. Currently, the closed test track for BGMI is updated."
As a result, BGMI players eligible for the public beta got a download link to update the game.
"Those who opted for a public test for the game before its launch are expected to get a message via email which takes them to play store for downloading the game. However, the game will not be available to play as the server are shut. We also understand that some other users who had not opted for the closed test are also getting this message. This is a technical error and we are working on resolving it. We will inform yourl once the game is available to PLAY."
It's evident that the game is yet to go live officially, and the servers are down at the time of writing. Readers are advised to wait for Krafton's statement about when they can play their beloved game once again.
