With the official announcement of the remaining two teams for the PMGC 2023, it has been confirmed now that there will be no Indian teams in the upcoming Global Championship 2023. On October 24, Tencent made an announcement that DRS Gaming from Nepal and Gaimin Gladiators from Russia have been directly invited to the League Stage of the mega competition, starting on November 2.
Initially, fans were hopeful that at least one slot from India would be available in the PMGC, as Tencent had not announced the distribution of the remaining two slots of the League Stage. In the previous edition, GodLike Esports from India had received a direct seat in the Finals and represented the country in the Global Championship.
Krafton, the developer of BGMI, will host an invitational tournament between South Korean and Indian teams that is scheduled for October 26 to 28. The BGIS 2023 took place recently, and several Indian teams competed for a share of the prize money. Gladiators Esports was the winner of that grand event. Unlike the BGIS 2021, this edition does not have any slots for the Global Championship.

After a year-long ban on BGMI, Krafton re-launched the game on May 29, 2023 in India. Right after the release, the publisher announced the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 to boost the esports scene. Everyone expected India to have a slot in PMGC 2023. It is worth mentioning that PUBG Mobile has been blocked from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for the past three years in India.
The PMGC, an annual international event of PUBG Mobile, is a prestigious event where the top squads from all regions showcase their ability and prowess. The 2023 edition will have a hefty prize pool of $3 million.
