India's Thakur Anoop Singh wins gold at World Body-Building Championship

Thakur defeated builders from 43 different countries

Indian body-builder Thakur Anoop Singh has won gold at the on-going World Body-building Championship in Thailand. He has also bagged the title of ‘Mr World,’ after fending off opposition from two Thai builders in the finals.

A former pilot, Singh recently foray into body-building has seen him earn several accolades. Singh recently finished third in the Mr Asia competition, losing out to Bhutan. However, a string of good recent performances, has seen him win the Mr world title for the first time. This make Anoop only the second builder from India, after Manohar Aich to lift the coveted title.

Anoop finished first among 70 athletes from 43 different countries, highlighting his exponential rise. He has also been launched within the entertainment industry, playing a pivotal role as ‘Dhritarashtra’ in a serial called Mahabharata. Earlier Anoop had said, “I am heading to Bangkok, with the Asian performance in mind. With my kind of preparations, I am sure I will do well in this event.”
